Since Labour's victory in the general election, office attendance of civil servants at the Ministry of Justice has sharply declined, coinciding with a prisons crisis involving the early release of thousands of inmates to address overcrowding.
Government data has shown that office attendance by civil servants at the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has significantly decreased since the Labour Party returned to power in the general election. In July, 82 percent of desks were occupied, but this dropped to 59 percent in August and further to 57 percent in September.
The MoJ also faced a prison crisis during this period, which led to the early release of thousands of inmates, including convicted murderers, to address overcrowding issues in prisons
