The Shadow Foreign Secretary said Labour would thrash out a fresh security pact with Brussels

In a speech at Chatham House in London, Mr Lammy said: “It has been a central principle of British strategy for centuries that we should never find ourselves isolated in our own continent.The Shadow cabinet minister said Labour is “not afraid” to speak about the “damage the Government’s bad Brexit deal has done to our economy”.
“Investment down, growth sluggish or non-existent, 45 per cent of businesses say they are having difficulties trading with the EU, the number exporting to Europe has fallen by a third.Should they return to power, Labour would seek to fix the, reduce friction in the trade of agrifood, medical and veterinary goods, strengthen mutual recognition of professional qualifications and standards as well as use the 2025 review of the Brexit trade agreement to further cut barriers to imports and exports.
He also vowed to unblock UK’s participation in the Horizon scientific research scheme, and improve links between universities and students.with Europe was essential, insisting the Europeans are more than “just trading partners” in the face of war in Ukraine, growing tensions in Kosovo and the threat of domestic terrorism.
