On the verge of their biggest show to date, in front of 30,000 people in Wythenshawe Park, Blossoms have come a long, long way

“It’s always the random ones that stick in your mind,” says Tom Ogden, racking his brain as he considers the best Blossoms ’ gigs to date.

On Sunday, they play their biggest headline show of their career to date - a 30,000-capacity outdoor concert at Wythenshawe Park. Billed as an all-day affair, support will come from Inhaler, Shed Seven, The K’s, Seb Lowe and Ttrruuces.

Described as the ‘moment of their careers’ by Ogden, playing an outdoor venue of this size, reminds them of some rather special gigs they attended before they started out as a band. And in terms of the day itself, Joe is just keen that people can soak up the atmosphere. “It’s that feeling of the big events you have in the calendar, with the tickets on the mantelpiece, and going to town early.

Amps, guitars and Blossoms’ signage can be found all over. There’s also the giant gorilla pitched up near the shutters. Blossoms’ new album is produced by the band’s regular collaborator James Skelly of The Coral, alongside Jungle’s Josh-Lloyd Watson, who produced ‘What Can I Say After I’m Sorry?’ And ‘Nightclub’. CMAT has also co-written two tracks on the album, ‘I Like Your Look’ and ‘Why Do I Give You The Worst Of Me?’
