A tiny Lake District village has beaten a host of top UK tourist towns to be named the best destination. Gosforth can be found on the cusp of the National Park in Cumbria and ideally located near the coastal town of Seascale and the Eskdale and Wasdale valleys.
Gosforth is part of a the north's dominance in the top 10, with Seahouses in Northumberland and Skipton in North Yorkshire also ranked. The little village is accessed via the main A595 coastal road which runs from Workington to Barrow and is home to the famous stone cross in St Mary's Church graveyard.The Forestry England-run Blengdale Forest is nearby and offers a variety of terrain for walks, cycling and views of the valley and River Bleng.
