The man suffered a 'serious upper arm injury' during the incident at Caws Beck
A Lake District walker was airlifted to hospital after losing his footing on 'mossy and slippery' ground and 'falling down a beck'.
A rescue operation was launched after North West Ambulance Service said the locations was 'neither close to a road nor flat ground for a helicopter'. Two Land Rovers were despatched to the scene at 11.21am and pain relief was administered until an air ambulance from Blackpool could arrive.It landed at the top of the fell and paramedics descended before taking over medical treatment.
In a statement, they said: "A couple were taking a walk through woodland on a dry day, but Caws Beck which they had to cross was mossy and slippery. The man lost his footing and fell down the beck, sustaining a serious upper arm injury. "We had administered our full complement of pain relief when Helimed 08 from Blackpool arrived. They had to land at the top of the fell and the paramedics descended to us.
