The Foreign Secretary will travel to Germany, Poland and Sweden this weekend to discuss European security, Nato and the war in Ukraine
Mr Lammy will visit Germany on Saturday before stops in Poland and Sweden – both countries at the frontline of European security against Russia – to discuss the ongoingDuring his trip, he will stress the importance of the relationship between the UK and its European allies to tackle shared challenges and increase security.
The Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary have ruled out crossing Labour’s red lines on the EU of returning to the single market, the customs union, or freedom of movement. Mr Lammy told FCDO staff: “This Government will reconnect Britain for our security and prosperity at home.“Diplomacy matters. We will begin with a reset with Europe, on climate and with the global South, and a gear-shift when it comes to delivering on European security, global security and British growth.”
