Former Everton manager Frank Lampard has discussed his time at Goodison Park and how it was different to Chelsea
Frank Lampard has claimed Everton chairman Bill Kenwright asked him whether a 'cockney' could take the helm at Goodison Park as part of an interview meeting for the job.
Lampard returned to the public eye on Monday as part of Sky Sports' Premier League coverage. Following Chelsea's win over Fulham, the former England midfielder was questioned about his time at Goodison.READ MORE: I would drop Everton midfielder to fix issue Sean Dyche has not resolved "I think even in social terms there's a big difference as well and it was one of my fears going in. I remember having a meeting, one of my sort of interviews meetings with Bill Kenwright at the time and one of his questions was, 'do you think a 'cockney' can manage Everton Football Club?'
"I think probably my time [as a player and manager] and coming in a freshness, hopefully, and an energy to it was going to be a big deal. His role with the Londoners came to an end when he was replaced by Thomas Tuchel but he returned to management with Everton. Lampard described his early months in charge as an "amazing period".
