Norman and Christine Edge benefit from the work of Clydesdale's care at home service, which recently received a 'glowing' inspection report
A Lanark couple who have been happily married for more than six decades after initially meeting on the town’s railway and who went on to cultivate a landmark local garden have shared how they are kept on track and nurtured thanks to the “amazing” support of South Lanark shire’s home carers.
Both were among the service users and families offering “very positive feedback” about their experience of the service, as care officials carry out a major recruitment drive to expand the work of the service which provides essential support to enable people to live as independently as possible in their own homes.
Norman went on to work as a train driver for 50 years, ending his career as a high-speed driver with Virgin on the east coast main line. The couple have since moved from their family home to “more suitable accommodation” and receive vital support from the home care team. Care at Home team members provide service users with help such as washing, dressing or getting ready for bed, while some staff are also trained to give more personal assistance such as help with medication.
