Julie Anne Rooney began bodybuilding around ten years ago when she decided to take up the sport after losing weight and building muscle following the birth of her three children.
"Over those 22 weeks, I’ll train and practice posing. On the day, the women will all line up on stage, and the judges will compare each competitor’s size, muscularity, and symmetry. After that, at the night show, each bodybuilder gets a minute to do a routine to music to pose. After that, the winner is announced.
“We stand barefoot and pose exactly the same as the men. We are expected to have the biggest muscles and be the leanest possible. It is the most extreme women's category.
