A Lanarkshire MSP has hit out at Labour’s “betrayal” of pensioners after cuts to winter fuel payments were confirmed in a House of Commons vote.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer saw off a backbench rebellion with MPs voting 348 to 228 against a Conservative motion for the controversial measure to be blocked, although his majority was reduced to 120.
