PC Ibrahim Malik had been on his first day in the job with Constable Andrew McLaughlin when they were rammed three times by a vehicle they had been perusing in scenes which have been described as like 'something out of a movie.'

A Lanarkshire rookie cop has been branded a hero after arresting a machete wielding thug following a high speed chase.

The officers, who were on the nightshift, spotted the vehicle at around 2am in the Burnbank area of the town and gave chase into the surrounding areas. Malik continued chasing the subject until reaching a fence in a wooded area. The officer drew his baton before the suspect decided to surrender and threw away his weapon.
