Police are keen to trace a man aged between 18 and 20.

A shop worker was attacked in an alleged robbery attempt at a store in Lanarkshire on Tuesday, July 18.

The young man - said to be aged between 18 and 20 - entered a premises on Woodside Street, in Coatbridge, at around 9.20pm with the intent to rob.The alleged culprit is described as around 5ft 5 and of a slim build. He was wearing a black jumper and grey and black shorts.Detective Constable Lisa McMullen said: “Fortunately no one was injured and our enquiries are ongoing to trace the youth responsible for this unprovoked assault.

“Anyone who saw what happened is asked to get in touch and I am also appealing to those driving in the area at the time who may have dash-cam footage that could assist our investigation to make contact with us.” Anyone who can assist is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3700 of Tuesday, 18 July, 2023.
