Mrs Dowsons Farm Park has opened a brand new indoor play area so families can visit the popular farm all year round
A popular farm in Blackburn has expanded with a brand new indoor play centre and seasonal events that's perfect for the gloomy Lancashire weather.
The emphasis, just like everything else at Mrs Dowsons Farm Park is also on sustainability and being as carbon neutral as possible, with the team working hard to offset construction emissions by planting 1,500 trees on the farm. The owners budgeted around £1 million for the new play area pre-Covid, but since then the cost of building materials has doubled and therefore, the final bill did too.
"We wanted to be pioneers, creating a play area using natural materials rather than plastic, and it has been designed for children of a wide age range, between one and twelve years. They can all get something out of it whether it’s working together to move sand to the top of a tower or climbing a model of a tree. It’s basically a high-tech throwback to the days when kids built dens."
You can also look forward to Christmas at the farm, with many events on at the Most Wonderful Time of the Year. The farm offer Breakfast with Santa events, Christmas Markets and Christmas at the Farm.
