Met Office Lancashire weather forecast for the week ahead amid 'polar vortex' reports
The dry and cooler weather is set to continue across Lancashire his week and into the start of February amid dunked reports of a 'polar vortex' bringing a deep freeze.
They said there is "no suggestion of anything similar to the significant cold spell in 2018". The polar vortex is a counter-clockwise spinning mass of cold air that grows and shrinks with the changing seasons, which brings blasts of freezing air when it dips towards the equator.
With this in mind, we've taken a look at the weather ahead for the week ahead for different parts of Lancashire, including Blackpool, Lancaster, Preston, Blackburn and Burnley.Temperatures across Burnley this week are likely to fluctuate. The highest temperature predicted is 9C and the lowest is 2C. Today , it is expected to be cloudy but some sunny intervals are expected.
As we move through the rest of the week light showers are predicted for a number of days. But on the whole, the Met Office predict it will be overcast.Again, there is a vast difference in the temperatures forecast. The Met Office say it could be as warm as 10C or as cold as 3C.
