A controversial one
Suspending the South Lancaster Growth Catalyst project and Housing Infrastructure Fund leaves the whole district at risk of unwanted development and raises questions about city councillors’ commitment to the democratic process, a Conservative councillor has alleged.
He spoke after Labour Coun Phillip Black, the new city council leader, gave a monthly report. Coun Black said the timing of the south Lancaster news from the county council was too late for his written report but he would answer questions verbally. He has also given comments in a county council press release.
Coun Gardiner thanked Coun Black for his answers. But then suggested the Labour councillor was part of the city council political administration which had ‘approved the situation’. And Labour Coun Martin Gawith said it was Conservative-run Lancashire County Council and the Conservative Westminster government which made the big funding decisions for the South Lancaster Growth Catalyst and infrastructure fund.
