Thomas, who brought joy to others with a simple wave, died two weeks ago.
The Lancaster County community is saying goodbye to Tony Thomas , also known as the ' Strasburg Waver .'A celebration of life was held on Friday, 'I miss my buddy,' said Randy Schamber.Schamber joined Thomas in waving to cars driving along Strasburg Pike.'Two years ago, we met each other. He was standing over here, and I was standing at my apartment steps. I saw him, and I said, 'Go over and introduce yourself.
I want him to be here, and unfortunately, I'm not going to have that anymore,' Schamber said.The absence is felt by everyone in the community, as the pair had a knack for brightening a driver's day.'A lot of people said he made the difference just by a simple wave. Sometimes they were sad or upset going to work, you know, and different things, so just looking over and seeing him wave helped,' said Angela Thomas, Tony's daughter.'He loved being out here.
