Retreat Behavioral Health is closing its inpatient residential unit on South State Street in Ephrata and its outpatient facility in Akron. The center said CEO Peter Schorr died suddenly Friday.
One staff member who has been there for more than a decade says she loves the work she does, but she also relies on the paycheck. 'We still have not seen a paycheck and the next check is due July 5. We have people who work there that are couples, that have families, who have bills to pay. Rent is due. How do you pay it with no paycheck?” said Ami Wolf, part of the kitchen staff.
