State Representative Mike Sturla will not seek reelection in Lancaster County , ending a 35-year career in public service , according to the Lancaster County Democratic Committee.

Representative Sturla started his career on the Lancaster City Council before flipping the State House seat in 1990, making him the first Democrat to represent Lancaster County in the state legislature's modern history.For nearly 35 years, Mike has worked tirelessly for his constituents, defining himself as a leading champion for equitable housing and education access, as well as a standard bearer for reproductive rights.

Another highlight from Sturla's career was his annual Back-to-School event, which has provided tens of thousands of Lancaster children with free school supplies, clothes, shoes, and haircuts. Under Mike's leadership, we've seen the Democratic Party in Lancaster to grow to include dozens of elected officials, all united by the values of equinity, freedom, and opportunity for all.
