A phishing email may end up in your inbox after a scam message hit Lancaster County agencies.A phishing email contains links that, if you click on them, can temporarily compromise email accounts and create a chain reaction of additional phishing email s.One such email ended up being sent to Lancaster County residents after an Office of Aging employee interacted with an email that came from the account of a senior living facility.The subject line of the email sent to residents is 'County Tax.
It instructs you to click a link to view the message and says secure emails expire after 10 days.The email also says, 'For instructions and more information, click the Help and Information link at the bottom of this message.'If you received this email or any other similar email, delete it immediately. Do not click on any links.The county said in a news release that its information technology department has neutralized the issue, and residents will no longer receive these emails.
