Lancaster City Police reports between 2016 and 2022 there was a 350% increase in the number of suspects, victims of shootings and shots fired between the ages of 13-24. They serve at risk and underserved youth to show them a different path. A few of Bench Mark’s programs include a school suspension alternative program, a leadership program, skill building program and this month they’re starting a gun violence prevention program.
“We can put them on a track in life and place them around people who would never lead them to need that. Here’s some resources, here’s some mentors, here’s a goal sheet and some curriculum we can go through together, so you won’t ever get caught up in that,” said Kiefer.
