Lancashire students' guide on what to expect for freshers week at county's universities
Students from across the country have descended on Lancashire's universities and are ready to settle in, or back in for second and third years, for a week of activities, making new friends and preparing for the academic year ahead. Whilst second and third years will know what to expect, Fresher's week can seem quite daunting to those moving away from home for the first time.
Depending on your university, fresher's week happens in the last week of September or the first week of October. This is also the time to make sure that you’ve sorted out the business side of things, like registering with your university, meeting your tutors, and taking guided tours of your department and library.
How much money will I get as a Fresher and how much will I need? Before working out how much Freshers Week 2022 will cost you, let’s first think about how much money you might have, and where that money comes from. Part-time job – If you feel like you need some extra help and money in your back pocket, there will be plenty of opportunities for part-time work in your new town or city. Always make sure that you don’t work too much and that it doesn’t interfere with your studies.
There are usually lots of deals on during fresher's week, so make sure to plan your nights according to where is cheapest. If you're new to the town/city, then is is a great way to figure out your favourite new haunt. A mixture of stress, alcohol, dodgy takeaways and not enough sleep is bound to leave you feeling a bit worse for wear, so it's important to leave a day or two to recover before your classes start.
