A fire broke out yesterday at The Smoker, which opened its doors in 1597
The owner of a 400-year-old Cheshire pub is determined to restore and revive the business after it was devastated by a huge fire.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze involved the thatch roof of the building and crews spent all night at the pub. Firefighters used an aerial platform to douse the building in water from above.Two fire engines from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service also joined the four from Cheshire at the scene to assist.
William Robinson managing director of Pubs at Robinsons said: “I’d like to extend my thanks to the nine fire crews of Cheshire Fire and Rescue and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue services who both attended the fire and worked throughout the night to extinguish the flames. “It will take quite some time to fully understand the level of damage that has been done, but we suspect it to be quite severe.”
