It is 100 years since the Cenotaph, on the Esplanade, was first unveiled and a ceremony to mark the historic occasion was held.

A significant and poignant milestone in the history of Troon took place when a rededication ceremony was held at the town’s War Memorial.

Speeches were delivered by Andrew Girvan , ex Sgt Royal Artillery and RBL Troon President, Major David Dickson Deputy LL and Mr Iain Campbell . Provost Campbell addressed the assembled crowd before Troon Boys Brigade Pipe Band played ‘Amazing Grace’ as the Lord Lieutenant of South Ayrshire, laid a wreath at the foot of the cenotaph.
