An LASD deputy was shot in the back while waiting at a red light in West Covina, and the shooter is still on the run.
A motorcycle deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department was shot in West Covina Monday afternoon, while he was waiting at a red light, and authorities are still looking for the shooter.It happened shortly before 3 p.m. near the 10 Freeway, at the intersection of N. Baranca Street and E. Garvey Avenue. LA County Sheriff Robert Luna said Deputy Samuel Alspuro was sitting at a red light at the intersection, when he was shot in the back.
Images from SkyFOX showed deputies arresting one person. Luna later confirmed that multiple people at the home were detained, but will soon be released because they may not have been involved.Now, Luna said the department is searching for a white sedan with tinted windows that was last seen headed west on the 10 Freeway from Barnaca Street. "Right now there is someone out there armed with a firearm who shot one of our deputies in the back," Luna said.
