The six-week run is set to come to an end
The end is nigh for the Christmas Markets of 2024, as the Manchester offering is set to close its doors on Sunday . Visitors are given just a few more days to stock up on festive gifts, fill up on bratwurst and drink the mulled wine.
Designed in-house by the city council's design studio, this year’s mug features a Nordic, Nutcracker theme featuring Father Christmas and some elves. When ordering your gluhwein, you pay for your drink and a £3.50 deposit, giving you the choice to either keep the mug or return it and get your money back.
One collector is known to have 15 mugs at home, but Coun Karney wants to find out if anyone has any more. According to Manchester Council, the first mug was issued in 2004, meaning a full collection would consist of 20.
