The Nottinghamshire shop will close on July 29
The owner of an independent bookshop that has been described as ‘secret’ and ‘hidden away’ has announced the shop will be closing down on July 29. With no regrets, however, the former teacher who took a gamble to open the shop has ‘no regrets’ and has loved every second of it.
Tim said: “This is one last hurrah and they’ll be 50% off all books from Saturday. We’ve made a nice little profit but because of the cost of living crisis, we’re having to close.”Sharing news of the closure on the shop's Facebook page previously, Mr Beeden said: "I’m sorry to say that BUK is closing. Our last day of trading will be Saturday 29th July. It’s not a decision I’ve taken lightly nor is it one taken in haste.
"However, our personal circumstances have changed and, whichever way we cut it, a nice little profit isn’t anywhere near enough. Money isn’t the only factor involved in the decision to close. There are other, more personal reasons. Rest assured we’ve thought long and hard before coming to this decision."
In Tim’s new role some of the book clubs that have been created since the opening of BUK will still continue to run too. Tim added: “Loads of people have come in and I’ve been blown away by how nice, supportive and understanding they’ve been.
