Housework isn't something many people celebrate, but for war veteran Michael Reardon, it's symbolic of something much bigger — having a home. His is a good story amid a housing crisis in his state.
As of the last financial year, it has completed 1,400 — homes that are meant for people like Michael."I would love to say that everyday we can take someone from the housing register and place them in safe secure housing but regrettably we just don't have enough stock here in Tasmania," he said.
"There are initiatives but I don't think they're enough and I don't think it's going to happen quick enough.""It's so challenging to really positively progress in life … without a safe place to call home," he said. "The number of individuals seems achievable that a state like Tasmania perhaps might be able to be a test case to reducing or eliminating homelessness," he said.
