Roads, planting and pond highlighted at site
New plans to vary the layout of a solar farm to be built near Lancaster University would mean the site will have slightly fewer solar panels and roads than previously expected, a pond will be kept and there will be extra landscaping.
The new plan is to alter the site's entrance, layout and landscaping. The changes are needed following a more detailed study of the site, which rises and falls, and the energy infrastructure needed, according to the application. Regarding the new plan, it states: "Whilst the broad arrangement and orientation of the solar panels remains largely the same, the key area of change is the omission of panels in the north eastern corner, as well as the retention of the pond which was to be removed as part of the previous scheme.
"It is pleasing to see a variation application that actually betters the original application. The parish council supports this application, as well as new footpath and bridleway initiatives that provide community benefit."
