Wallace Community College is giving Covington County high school students a chance to get into broadband careers.Straughn High School students worked with employees of Buzz Broadband, a service that brings the highest broadband speed through Covington Electric Cooperative, to learn about fiber optics.
The training taught students about being a fiber optic technician. Willis says they’re always looking to hire locally. And if they don’t plan to stay in the county, students can take the skills they learned and apply them at other job opportunities.
