A Leander family is picking up the pieces tonight after a fire sparked by a lithium-ion battery Friday destroyed their home and killed two of their pets.

"It's just a matter of time and waiting, it's going to basically be a new adventure, a new chapter in our lives," Noll said. "Everything is going to be torn down to the studs, then be replaced with new sheetrock, new lighting, new outlets..." "I would have never thought something like that would have ever happened, but it did," Noll said. "I was shaking. I was I was panicking. Because there's literally nothing I could do.""The Marshal took me in and walked me through all the rooms. That's when it really hit me like wow, I really just lost everything." Noll said.
"In certain states, you're seeing more than... 10 fatalities a year, caused by these fires from lithium-ion batteries," Majano said. "But in terms of fires, in some states, it's the leading cause of fires within cities."Majano says it's important to be wary of after-market batteries and chargers, which may not have the same safety certifications as reputable brands.
