The inside track on the football stories that matter
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Leeds United could be forced to sell left-back Junior Firpo this summer., the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted it will be “difficult” for the club to renew the 27-year-old’s contract despite his status as a “great asset” for them in the quest for promotion.
Firpo has just 12 months left to run on his current deal at Leeds after signing for the club from Barcelona four years ago. The left-back recovered from an early-season injury in the 2023-24 campaign to become a key part of their promotion push, but the Whites fell short in the play-off final against Southampton last month.Leeds could be forced to cash in on Firpo ‘while they still can’, says Wyness
