A Leeds man has been charged following the tragic death of a footballer who was hit by a car at a car meet.
Sam Harding, a 20-year-old from Stockport, died after being hit by a black Audi S3 on Sunday, April 10, 2022. Sam, who is thought to have played for Glossop North End, was lovingly described as a "sweet angel" by his family. Emergency services were called to Kingsland Grange, Warrington, around 9.40pm on Sunday following reports of a pedestrian had been hit by a car.
Despite being rushed to Warrington District General Hospital, Sam was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. It's believed the tragedy happened during a "car meet".Cheshire Police have now charged Mason Hodgson of Morley with causing death by dangerous driving. The 23 year old, from Glen Road, is due to appear at Warrington Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, October 15.
In an earlier tribute, Sam's family said: "Our beautiful son was tragically taken away from us on Sunday 10 April 2022. A much loved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend to many. We will never ever forget you Sam and will love you forever.
