George Chalmers has appeared in court
George Chalmers, 53, made his first appearance at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday charged with the murder of Ruth Baker. Ruth, 48, from Carlisle, was found dead at a house in Tempest Road, Beeston, on Saturday, March 30.
Mr Chalmers, of Tempest Road, appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court on Monday and appeared before His Honour Judge Stubbs KC at Leeds Crown on Wednesday when a trial date of October 2 this year was set. Ms Baker's family have paid tribute to her, and said in a statement released by West Yorkshire Police: “We are saddened by our loss, however we want to remember her in a positive light and not be darkened by the circumstances of her death.”
