A Leeds mum who spent 14 years learning to walk again after being hit by a car at the age of eight has shared her emotional fight.
in Cookridge, in 1992. It took 14 years until she was able to walk unaided, aged 22. Now, the only visible sign of her injury is a slight limp when she walks. She has since gone on to have a family of her own - becoming a mum to three children.Amy was waiting to cross a busy road with her friend when a car came past, driving too fast and too close to the curb. She was knocked unconscious and taken to hospital.
Over time, some of the feeling came back but the break in her leg stopped it from growing and three years after the incident, Amy needed a leg lengthening operation.
