Leeds Trinity and White Rose Shopping centers were evacuated today as part of routine fire drills, leaving shoppers momentarily uncertain. Both centers emphasized their commitment to safety and preparedness.
Two shopping centers in Leeds , Leeds Trinity and White Rose, experienced customer evacuations today. Shoppers reported hearing alarms and gathering outside the buildings, initially unaware of the cause. Both shopping centers clarified the situation, stating that planned fire evacuation drills were responsible for the evacuations. White Rose emphasized its commitment to safety, explaining that such drills are regularly conducted to test response and alarm systems.
In a statement, White Rose noted that most of its staff were unaware of the drill, allowing for a more accurate evaluation of preparedness. A spokesperson said: 'A planned fire evacuation drill was held at White Rose Shopping Centre today. As part of its rigorous health and safety strategy, White Rose routinely undertakes such measures to ensure the highest possible standard of care for staff, guests, and retailers. Few of the centre's employees are pre-warned of drills to ensure an accurate measure of the centre's preparedness for such an event. Evacuation drills are measured against specific criteria to ensure exceptionally high standards and continuous improvement.'Leeds Trinity also confirmed that the evacuation was part of a planned fire drill conducted earlier in the day. Neither shopping center requested assistance from West Yorkshire Police.
