Here are our four talking points from Leeds United's 4-3 win over Middlesbrough at Riverside Stadium in the Championship as the visitors take a priceless win into the final 11 days of the season
Leeds United haven’t been involved in a seven-goal thriller since their trip to Ipswich Town eight months ago. That first win of the season at Portman Road felt like Daniel Farke ’s side had finally arrived as promotion contenders after a turbulent opening few weeks.
That seventh-minute concession, after what had been a bright start, could have easily pushed the self-destruct button. Farke said nerves were plain to see in training ahead of last night and with confidence hanging by a thread, Isaiah Jones’s opener could have been deadly. It was Georginio Rutter’s footwork which gifted him the penalty, but his role in the creation of the third goal was tremendous. In a stunning team goal, it was Summerville and Archie Gray who were driving the team through the centre of the field.
Monday’s brace of assists makes it seven for the season for Firpo, who only has 17 starts under Farke. For all of his defensive lapses and how painful they can be, Firpo’s attacking weight in this team cannot be overestimated.
