Second-placed Leeds United have a number of players in the Thorp Arch treatment room as they prepare to face Southampton in their final match of the regular league season
After losing three out of their last five Championship matches, no longer are Leeds United in control of their automatic promotion destiny. The Whites enter the final week of the regular league season still in second position thanks to Hull City scoring a dramatic late equaliser against Ipswich Town.
Patrick Bamford The striker was sorely missed in Friday's humiliating 4-0 humbling to Queens Park Rangers. Bamford travelled with the squad but was not deemed fit enough to be involved because of a knee injury. In Bamford's absence, Joel Piroe spearheaded the attack. The Dutchman struggled to make an impact at Loftus Road as United crashed to their heaviest defeat of the campaign.
"Four days ago everyone wants to send him to retirement or whatever, right now he's our only chance to win games. We didn't lose just because of Patrick Bamford or win the last game because of him. You know how I rate him. Sadly today there was no chance. He missed training yesterday, normally I don't travel with a player who missed the last session before game day. It was simply not possible.
"We tried to be really careful with him after he came back injury after the last international break, just gave him a few short-term appearances and the last game was the last time he played 60 minutes.Return date: Possibly Southampton
