Leeds United visit Southampton in the Championship on Saturday afternoon with choices at Daniel Farke's disposal so we tasked our club writers to name the XIs they would pick
Performances this season have not come much better than Leeds United’s win over Watford last weekend. Therefore, I don’t feel compelled to make sweeping changes to the team heading down to Southampton to face Russell Martin’s wounded animals.
READ MORE: More Leeds United rotation, another international break injury and what we learned from Farke My gut reaction was to go back to the young, exciting Archie Gray project, but maybe the sensible course of action rests with Kamara for now. The Finland international has got that first start under his belt and can look to build a partnership with Ethan Ampadu now, while we remember how young Gray is and keep his minutes in check over the long term.
Beren’s XI: Meslier; Shackleton, Rodon, Cooper, Byram; Ampadu, Kamara; Rutter, Summerville, Anthony; Piroe.Daniel Farke will be glad for the headache, I suppose. He has genuine options at his disposal and after last weekend’s clash with Watford, it’s fair to say about 15 or 16 players have real claims to be named in the starting XI.
As such, I’m keen for him to come straight back into the line-up and that means I’m dropping skipper Liam Cooper. It’s harsh given his strong showing against the Hornets, but someone has to miss out and I’d rather see Rodon reprise his partnership with Pascal Struijk for now.
