With Leicester City in FA Cup action this weekend, Leeds United will go top of the Championship for the first time this season with a win by two or more goals against Millwall
Two months ago, Leeds United were 17 points adrift of Championship leaders Leicester City. A title push looked completely out of the question.
But things can change very quickly in football and the Whites enter tomorrow's clash with Millwall knowing a win could move them to the top of the league for the first time this season. Victory by two or more goals against the Lions will guarantee Daniel Farke's first position heading into the international break as the Foxes are in FA Cup action today.
United host Millwall looking to extend their unbeaten home league run to 19 matches. Their stellar form in 2024 points to another a positive result. But former Whites midfielder David Prutton has warned his former club to underestimate the Lions at their peril. The London club have gone four matches without defeat since Neil Harris returned as manager.
Writing in his latest Sky Sports prediction column, Prutton has backed United to edge the clash 2-1. He said: "Leeds United can go top of the Championship table here, which is incredible when you consider how much they’ve closed the gap on Leicester - who are in FA Cup action this weekend. A win by two or more goals sends them to the summit.
"But they are up against a Millwall side who are resurgent under Neil Harris, having picked up 10 points from a possible 12. This is always a feisty fixture, and I reckon it will be close. But Leeds should have enough."
