Leeds United now look like needing to earn promotion through the play-offs

Leeds United's chances of automatic promotion are not over, but following a 4-0 defeat at Queens Park Rangers they don't have much life left in them. Daniel Farke's side are going to need a major slip-up from Ipswich Town if they are to take the second automatic promotion place alongside Champions-elect Leicester City.

Ipswich play twice before Leeds are back out ion their final game of the campaign at home to Southampton next Saturday and all eye swill be on how the Tractor boys get on, starting with their tough trip to Hull City this evening. While there is still a small amount of hope, it's likely the play-offs await for the Whites.

So, with that in mind, here's the path Leeds look like having to take to reach the Premier League, with all the dates you need to know for the three further games which may be needed. The play-offs begin on Sunday May 12, eight days after the season concludes, which is a much longer break than we are used to seeing. The semi-final first legs have a double header on the Sunday beginning with sixth place hosting third.

That means the opening game will likely be Norwich City hosting Leeds, with the White set for a 12:00pm kick-off on May 12th, whether that's at Norwich, West Brom or Hull City. The second leg will take place at Elland Road on Thursday May 16 with an 8pm kick-off. The other play-off semi-final will be held the following night, giving Leeds an extra day to prepare for Wembley should they make it through the semi-final.

Should Leeds progress to the play-off final they will have 10 days to prepare for the match, with the game held on Sunday May 26, with a 4:30pm kick-off. The game will be played the day after the FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United, meaning travelling the day before the match could be impacted.
