Luca Thomas has extended his loan spell with York City from Leeds United until January 2025
An extension has been agreed to the loan of Luca Thomas to York City from Leeds United. The 20-year-old departed Thorp Arch for the National League outfit in October in a short-term switch, but he’s done enough to stay on until January 2025.
As they try to make a comeback to EFL football, York are now two points behind leaders Forest Green Rovers in the National League standings. Thomas has made five appearances since arriving at the LNER Community Stadium, scoring in the Minstermen’s 4-0 victory over Ebbsfleet United on his debut. A Leeds statement said: “Everyone at Leeds United would like to wish Luca well during his time out on loan and we look forward to seeing his development away from the club.”
With Mateo Joseph, Joel Piroe, Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt all queuing up for frontline minutes, Thomas had made do with under-21 games. The striker has been menace at that level, scoring in every game he’s played, including two braces. Thomas signed a new one-year contract in July, which takes him through to the end of this season. With opportunities hard to come by at Elland Road, he will hope to keep making an impression with his first taste of senior action.
