Leeds United's manager Daniel Farke believes the team will be greatly boosted by having striker Patrick Bamford fit and confident as they face a crucial month of Championship fixtures. Bamford's contributions have been limited this season due to injuries, but Farke's recent decision to substitute him in a match against Blackburn Rovers signals renewed faith in the player.
Leeds United will benefit from a fit and confident Patrick Bamford as the club begin a key month of fixtures that will go a long way to shaping the promotion race in the Championship . That's the view of manager Daniel Farke , who says his team will be boosted by having the striker fit and able to train uninterrupted without persistent injuries.
Bamford has played just eight games this season, with his game time also severely limited with small contributions off the bench which have yet to see him find the back of the net. It's been a difficult campaign for the one-time England international, who has fallen down the pecking order. And yet, last time out against Blackburn Rovers with Leeds needing a goal to get back in the game, Farke turned to Bamford and not Mateo Joseph off the bench with 20 minutes to go. While Farke says it is not a case of prioritising Bamford over Jospeh now his striker is fit and healthy, he is excite about being able to turn to his experienced forward more often.
"The most important thing for Patrick is this is the first time in ages that he's had three or four weeks without injury," explained Farke. "I have always spoken about how highly I rate a fit Patrick Bamford. You can see at training his confidence is coming back and he is training better and better."
In terms of turning to Bamford over Joseph last week, he added; "It depends on the game. It was not a decision against Mateo for example, it was more how the game went and they are different type of strikers. Patrick is a good solution when you need a goal and there is space, I am grateful he is in a good period right now and training more and more."
