Leeds United's Social Goals programme will benefit from a £10,000 grant via the Sky Bet EFL Building Foundations Fund
A £10,000 grant has been sent to Elland Road from the EFL for Leeds United’s Social Goals programme to use. The over-50s health and wellbeing group, based at the stadium for weekly meetings, will benefit from the new Sky Bet EFL Building Foundations Fund.
There will be £6m made available over the next six years to community projects attached to EFL clubs up and down the country. After this first round of grants, schemes will be encouraged to bid each year for funding to help with their plans for the community. Social Goals is a free, weekly health and wellbeing group that puts on sessions which include United quizzes, activities, guest speakers and ground tours, while allowing attendees to meet other like-minded people and dive into the history of the club. It aims to benefit the Leeds community in reducing social isolation, as well as improving mental heath and social interaction skills.
“This commitment from Sky Bet shines a light on the breadth and depth of the work football is involved in across all of our communities and tells the powerful stories of the local community members who benefit from these initiatives and programmes.”
