Wilfried Gnonto has not submitted a transfer request to Leeds United despite rumours circulating on social media
One year ago today, Wilfried Gnonto was beginning to realise his strike was getting him nowhere at Leeds United. If you thought Saturday’s draw at The Hawthorns was dispiriting, try a seven-man bench with two goalkeepers.
They were desperate to get out of Leeds, to the extent they, or their advisors, felt it was worth setting fire to every bridge around them. By August 26 last year, they were both starting for Daniel Farke at Ipswich Town, fronting up to the wrath of the travelling Leeds horde.Sinisterra would eventually get his move at the 11th hour of the window with a threat of legal action, but the Italian could see the writing was on the wall.
Eleven days of the window remain and United fully expect to retain their 20-year-old attacker, with no transfer requests submitted, according to club sources. In a summer which has seen Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter leave, Gnonto has quickly become the club’s chief goal threat.
