“That is what we’re seeing in Gaza – civilian areas bombed, food, electricity, water, medicines, all cut off,” he said, before asking Rishi Sunak whether he will “make clear to the Israeli government that this collective punishment of Palestinian civilians must end immediately”.His comments were echoed by Imran Hussain, MP for Bradford, who urged the Prime Minister to make it clear to the Israeli government that “laying siege to civilians” in Gaza is in “clear violation of international law”.
The comments in the Chamber come just days after Mr Corbyn told a controversial pro-Palestine rally in central London, that “if you believe in international law, if you believe in human rights, then you must condemn what is happening now in Gaza by the Israeli army”.The former Labour leader last week drew criticism for refusing to condemn Hamas directly for the murders and kidnapping of civilians, saying only he was “against all violence”.
