The Western House Hotel, in Ayr’s Craigie Road, will be the setting for the ‘Legacy Lunch,’ organised by Ayr businessman and former owner of Dawn Construction, Alan Macdonald.

As many as 120 movers and shakers from the Ayr shire community and beyond are preparing to take part in a special fundraising afternoon towards the end of this month.

Finance for the first two phases have been helped tremendously by a £3m investment in the club, known as ‘The Macdonald Legacy.’ The legacy was created by Mr Macdonald and honours his son Barry, a club member and former first XV player, who died suddenly in December 2020.Get all the local news in your area – plus features, football news and the latest on the coronavirus crisis – at your fingertips 24/7.

Phase three involves the replacement of the existing clubhouse with a new state-of-the-art facility; including a lounge bar, beer garden, restaurant and multi-purpose function room, studio space, as well as modern changing facilities and community gym, all subject to planning approval.
