Morleys Tooting, a beloved South London department store, is closing its doors after over 100 years. The store announced its closure on social media, citing the difficult decision as necessary. Shoppers expressed their heartbreak and shared memories of the long-standing establishment.

Morleys Tooting released a statement on social media, announcing it will be closing more than 100 years after it first appeared on the high street in the early 1900s.
‘The staff were always delightful and I’ll miss having it on my doorstep.’ And Mary Weigel wrote: ‘Another Tooting institution lost forever! It is a disgrace.’ Others called Morleys ‘a true Tooting staple’ and a ‘legend’, noting how long the store had been serving customers for. Morleys originally opened as Smith Bros.
