The Golden Beach Award 2024 has named the 'top 100 beaches in the world' and a British seaside spot has made it into the top 30
Famed for its welcoming community, Brighton Beach has snagged a spot among the world's best beaches. It was awarded this impressive ranking by experts at BeachAtlas for more than just its coastline - also being hailed as a "cultural icon".
Proudly claiming the 25th spot worldwide, Brighton Beach was the highest-ranked UK entry in the countdown. According to BeachAtlas: "Brighton Beach, stretching a scenic 5 kilometres along the southern coast of England, offers stunning views of the English Channel and stands as a cultural icon of the UK."
This led to the creation of the Royal Pavilion - a defining symbol of Brighton even today. The Brighton Pier, also known as the Palace Pier, is another famous seaside landmark. It was first built in 1823 and has been updated over time to become a fun spot for visitors today, with food stalls and lots of games and arcades.
"Brighton is celebrated for its inclusive and diverse community, particularly known for having one of the largest LGBT communities in the UK," BeachAtlas explained.
