George Craig, a 94-year-old legendary hunter, died shortly after the death of his longtime companion, the world's largest crocodile, Cassius, aged 120 years. Their relationship spanned decades at Marineland Melanesia Crocodile Habitat.
A legendary hunter named George Craig , aged 94, who was closely associated with the world's largest crocodile named Cassius , has passed away, just a few days after the 120-year-old crocodile's death. George Craig had a long-standing bond with Cassius , which he kept at his wildlife park, Marineland Melanesia Crocodile Habitat, located off the coast of Cairns.
Cassius, known for his disruptive behavior, was caught near a cattle station on the Finniss River in the Northern Territory of Australia in 1984 and was believed to be between 30 and 80 years old at the time of capture. He was later relocated to Green Island, and according to records, he became the largest crocodile taken alive in Australia. The pair was 'very close', as described by Professor Graeme Webb of Darwin's Crocodylus Park. George had a rich history, including his time as a crocodile hunter and his role in establishing Marineland Melanesia on Green Island, north of Queensland, in 1971
