Former Edison baseball coach and athletic director Jim Muldowney died on Tuesday morning.
Jim Muldowney, one of New Jersey high school baseball’s most successful coaches, died on Tuesday morning after a brief battle with cancer.Muldowney served as Edison’s baseball coach for over a decade, putting together a distinguished resume, amassing a record of 275-75, 10 conference championships, seven county championships, five sectional titles and two group championships.
“He coached at Middlesex College, Edison High School, North Brunswick Baseball Little League and travel, Central Jersey Lightning, American Legion, and many others. While he will always be my dad, he’s better known as Diamond Jim, a father figure to many.” Jim also served as the baseball coach at Middlesex College from the late 1970s through the mid-1980s, posting a 141-81 record.
